Tessa Edge
Central 2019

Tessa Edge, a 2019 graduate of Central High School, was presented with her $1,000 Service Above Self Award following completion of her first semester of school at the University of Minnesota. As you can see from her photo, Tessa embraced the opportunity to join the marching band, and was able to accompany the football team to perform during the Gophers victory over Auburn at the Outback Bowl in Tampa. "I had a wonderful first semester. Although my program is a difficult one, I strove to overcome the challenges," Tessa wrote in a note thanking the club for the Rotary award. "I am grateful for these opportunities and to you all for supporting me."

Caitlin Coffey
Logan 2019

Caitlin Coffey, a 2019 graduate of Logan High School, was presented with her $1,000 Service Above Self Award following completion of her first semester of school at the Franklin Olin College of Engineering, a noted private engineering college in suburban Boston. Caitlin has returned to school for the 2nd semester and was unable to attend a club meeting to receive her award.

Caitlin was a member of the Logan Interact Club and says helping organize iFeed helped her "realize how much Rotary does for others around the world!" She has already taken an active role in community service work in college, joining Code for Boston, a nonprofit dedicated to helping other nonprofits with software and related projects. Recently she worked on a project with a nonprofit called the Guardian Group, which is working to combat the presence of online human trafficking.

She is grateful for the Rotary award, which will help pay tuition and allow her to continue pursuing school. "I appreciate the work your club has done to make our community, as well as our nation, a better environment. Rotary was an amazing opportunity for me to help serve others in my community."

Matthew Jankowski
Aquinas 2019

David Stoeffler, Youth Committee member presented Matthew Jankowski with his
$1,000 Service Above Self Award

Matthew just completed his first semester at University of North Dakota.

"I had a really good first semester.  I adjusted to my new school and college level classes well, along with making many new friends, working at the library for my work study financial aid and volunteering in leadership opportunities in student government.  It's been a lot of work but also a lot of fun too."   Matthew thanks the La Crosse Rotary in supporting him in his studies at UND.
