LAST WEEK AT ROTARY
Our speaker last week was Jen Barney from Meringue Bakery.

Taken from her blog.....One day, not so long ago, a representative from Food Network called me to see if I would ever be interested in applying for a Food Network show. The audition and application process was long and demanding. It is not enough to be a qualified baker:  I was tested on my personality, how I react on camera, and what makes me a unique person. As a mother, foster mom, wife, and business owner, throwing another log on the fire seemed daunting at times. It was so much work to physically leave. I left my husband with a calendar of where the kids would be on each day, the bakery work was taken over by my dear and trusted friend Jill, and with a lot of hard work I was able to jump on a plane.

YOUTH EXCHANGE HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR ONE NIGHT

YOUTH EXCHANGE HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR ONE NIGHT... Our Rotary Club will be sponsoring a Youth Exchange Weekend on March 2-4.  Beginning Friday, March 2nd, Inbound Youth Exchange Students from around the state will be arriving for a fun-filled weekend.  They will be joined by the newly identified US Outbound Exchange Students who will represent Wisconsin and the United States around the world starting in August.

We are in need for places for these students to stay on Friday night, March 2nd.  Your accommodations do not need to be 5-star.

Normally, the Rotarian is asked to pickup between 1-3 students (a carload at most) and show them a good time on Friday evening.  That may involve dinner at home with your family, taking them out to your favorite restaurant, perhaps a play or show - anything that you think they will find interesting.  Make sure they get a good breakfast on Saturday morning, and then deliver them to a local location just before lunch on Saturday when the weekend officially begins.  That's it - it is that easy!

This is an excellent opportunity for our club to get a re-taste of the energy and enthusiasm of a Youth Exchange Student, plus get that guest bedroom and family room floor used for the first time since the holidays! Getting the chance to meet and spend a little time with these young people will instill hope that we are moving towards a better world.

If you are able and interested in opening your hearth to one or more of these students for one night (March 2nd), please contact Eva Marie Restel.

ROTARY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DEDICATION
The Rotary Habitat home we sponsored was dedicated on Saturday, Feb. 3rd.  The Kochagian Family was the family that worked along with Habitat and Rotarians to build their home.  Thanks to Rotarian Steve O'Malley for his lead on this project and for representing us at the dedication.   More photos.

Thanks to all  the Rotarians that helped out on our Rotary work days.

YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT FOR 2018-19
We are 99% sure that our next Inbound student will be a girl from Spain.  We have already identified her first host family, who happen to live in the Central school district.  The first family will have her from mid-August to early December,  Her second family will have her from early December to around March 31st, after which her second family would have her until mid-July 2019.

We are looking for Rotarians who would like to host her as the second or third family.   If hosting an exchange student interests you or if you have any questions, please talk to Maria Norberg, Eva Marie Restel or Jack Haase.   Also, feel free to talk to Tami Woods on what it has meant to her family to host Beca.
