This year's Al's Musky Challenge is in honor and memory of David Amborn.
Al worked with Karen (David's partner) to select four nonprofits as recipients. David strongly believed in the missions of these nonprofits and was involved in these organizations.
Mississippi River Trip - Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico
Casey Cooper is the brother of club member Callie Smith. Casey will share his story of floating the entire Mississippi!
In the summer of 2018, after I graduated college and before I started my career as a funeral director, I paddled the entire Mississippi River. Growing up near the marsh and on the river in La Crosse, this had always been a dream of mine. While attending the University of Minnesota's Mortuary Science Program I became actively involved in an organization called Children's Grief Connection.
Rotary Moments: 5 Questions with Andy and Patt Boge
Each week President Andy has been interviewing one of our Rotary Members. Last week Andy played the interview from Rotarian Dave from Creston Valley. This is embedded in our regular meeting.
Our Youth Committee will be presenting Extra Effort Awards to eight area high school students who are chosen by school staff members. The recipients are students who have faced significant obstacles and have persevered.
Each student is presented with a nice certificate and at least a $250 gift which is raised through Rotarian contributions. Members of the Youth Committee have pledged to donate $1350 and we’re asking for other Rotarians to contribute.
To donate, please email Tom Berkedal at rotarytom6220@gmail.com to let him know that you are donating. Then, write a check out to the Rotary Works Foundation and write “Extra Effort Awards” in the memo line and send the check to the Rotary Club of La Crosse, PO Box 1914, La Crosse, WI 54602 or donate online by going to the Rotary Works Donation Page and putting Extra Effort Awards in the memo.
