A Rotary Friendship Exchange (RFE) is an international exchange program for Rotary members and friends that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs.
Niki Pohnl (Rotary Club Administrator) and her son, Caden, attended an RFE to India in February. We will learn more about their RFE experience, the relationships they built, the Rotary projects they visited, and what happens AFTER an exchange.
Last Week: Amy Smith, Environmental Concerns - Ground Water
Amy has been working in sustainability since 2014, and recently became the Sustainability Director for Habitat for Humanity La Crosse. Her work allows her to manage local and regional conservation projects and groups who share similar goals of creating healthier waterways.
Amy's presentation focused on two specific projects she and Habitat are working on, ReNew the Block and La Crosse Area Waters
Guests are ALWAYS welcome! RSVP in advance to Niki Pohnl if know you are bringing guests but last minute invites are also welcome!
Congratulations to Chuck Hanson (District 6250)
and Jeff Reed (District 6270)! Both received Service Above Self awards at the TriCon event last weekend. (Chuck was nominated by Bill Pritchard.)
FUN FACT: Only 150 Rotarians a year receive this award, out of roughly 2.2 million that might receive it! And only one person in a district may receive this award per year - never more than one per district. There are 535 districts, so just under 30% of all districts have a recipient in any given year.
TriCON! What an energizing event! If you had some great "take aways" to share with the board, send them to Niki Pohnl by Monday, May 8th!
Hospitalizations and Condolences
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of Ilene Kernozek. Ilene's father, Lewis "Lew" Samuel Reingold passed away last week.
