Know that the only competition is yourself. Earn, save and invest before you spend. Avoid negative people. If you don’t go after it you won’t get it. See failure as a stepping stone, not an end. Your habits decide your future.

Last week at Rotary ….Rotarian Beth Franklin gave her classification talk. Beth is the Community Concierge at La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce. Members always enjoy hearing about their fellow Rotarians. We thank Beth for sharing her story.
Through the Chamber's First Friend program, Beth works to strengthen the business community by helping area companies and organizations attract and retain the best talent. She works with individuals and families relocating to Greater La Crosse, matching their wants and needs with our community's assets, allowing them to feel like they can always call our community their home. She provides a personalized experience for each individual/family, helping them integrate into the community. She also provides accompanying partner career services.
Classification Talk: Some have described the classification talk as a talking business card. But it is so much more than that! You can share vital and interesting information about your family, your interest and your business. The talk is not meant to embarrass you, but to let us get to know you as you want us to. You are not expected to present yourself as a professional speaker. Most of us are not. Contact Sarah Arendt-Beyer Program Chair for the year if you would like to give your classification talk.

As you know our Youth Exchange Student for the 2019-20 year is Inga from Germany. Inga has recently moved to her new host family the Jon Trapp family. We thank the Marcie Wycoff-Horn family for being Inga's first host family.
We hope you will remember her this Christmas with a card, a small gift AND/OR consider opening up your hearts and home to make Inga feel welcome.
She is staying with three host families while she is here however, we would love to have other Rotary families help make Inga feel at home in La Crosse. Are you going to have a family gathering or attend a special event...ask Inga to join your family. Your family will gain a new global perspective, many memories and quite possibly a new family member for life.
Inga likes to read books and draw. She plays tennis and volleyball. She loves baking, gardening and writing. She likes music and plays the piano and ukulele. One of her favorite hobbies is photography. Her lifelong dream is to travel to every country in the world.
Just a reminder that if you will be one-on-one with Inga, you will need a background check. This is done through the Rotary District site and our club will cover the cost. Click here to process your background check.

November is Foundation Month. This is the time to renew your pledges to the Rotary Foundations for 2020 & 2021. You recently received a letter and personal pledge form either at a Rotary Meeting or by mail. We are asking you return your pledge form by December 31st. If you do not return the form we will assume that you will be pledging the same as 2019. YOUR PLEDGE IS AN INVESTMENT IN THE WORLD.
Those that pledge $100 or more to the Rotary International Polio Fund during this enrollment period will be given matching points, thanks to a number of generous Rotarians in our club. This means if you pledge $100 to PP you will be given 100 points, $200 you will be given 200 points.
If you have any questions, contact rotarylax@charter.net.
This year you are given the opportunity to make your Rotary Foundation INTERNATIONAL pledge through Rotary Direct. You can enroll online at www.rotary.org/give. If you give to both the Annual Fund-Share (funds come back to our District for grants) and Polio Plus you may need to fill out the form twice. If you decide to give online - please NOTE that on your pledge form so that I don't bill you on your invoice in January.
Please note: Raffle, Fines, Birthday, Anniversaries and Scooters are all donations that will go to the club If you are making a donation and would like it to go to the Rotary Works Foundation or Rotary International Foundation, we ask that you write a check to the Foundation of your choice.
