Last Week at Rotary: HAWK WORKS - Driving Innovation in La Crosse
Last week we heard from Emily Vanderfleet, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Physics and Engineering at Viterbo University about Viterbo's HAWK WORKS program. HAWK WORKS is a new initiative that brings together students and faculty from disciplines across campus to (1) identify areas in need of innovation both on campus and in the community, (2) design and construct solutions, and (3) elevate projects into commercialized products to broaden the impact and accessibility of innovation. She was joined by four students who shared stories of the projects they're working on.
Announcement: Starting this week, milk and iced tea will be available for you to pick up at the north bar as you find your seat. Cargill Room staff will also be happy to deliver a glass of milk or iced tea to you while they're serving the meal.
Note: If you prefer to keep your mask on during the entire meeting, the Cargill Room can provide you with a boxed lunch to take home with you - but we need to know in advance. Please email rotary@rotarycluboflacrosse.org.
Introducing: Niki Pohnl, Club Administrator
We are thrilled to share the news that Niki Pohnl has joined the club as Club Administrator. Her first day was December 2nd. She'll be part time through the end of December, then full-time beginning in January.
Niki has a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management from Viterbo University. Originally from Monona Iowa, she's been a La Crosse resident for 29 years. She's married and has three kids, a cat, and a dog. She loves scrapbooking, photography, and staying busy! She's highly organized and is looking forward to getting to know all of you.
A reminder to return the foundation enrollment forms either at the weekly meeting or by mailing them back. It is important we have a completed form for each member, whether you make a pledge or not. Please also be sure to note your first and last name at the top of the form. Thank you!
We would like to have all forms returned before Christmas!
Please register for this year's Winter Wonderland Youth Showcase so we can get an accurate meal count to the Cargill Room! This is typically one of our most popular programs of the year. Many Rotarians like to bring guests for this program.
Come and celebrate the coming of winter. Rotary and community youth will showcase their musical talents.
The meal will be a 6 oz sirloin, mashed potatoes, garlic haricot vert (green beans), and a dinner roll.
Katie Berkedal is also looking for talent! If you or your children would like to perform, please email Katie.
