This Week: Rotary International Update: Restels and Jolivettes
Todd and Eva Marie Restel, along with Mark and Sharon Jolivette, attended the Rotary International Convention from May 27-31 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Hear how 15,000 Rotarians were inspired by four days of general sessions and five days in the House of Friendship.
The four will share moments, events and themes that excited and inspired them, and also give a little more insight into their travels around the eastern and southern parts of Australia.
A great number of Past Presidents helped "pass the gavel" to Eva Marie Restel, our Rotary President for this Rotary year (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024).
We also heard from Joe Ruskey, our Foundation Chairman, about the importance of club giving and handed out 16 Paul Harris awards.
Avenues of Service Lifetime Achievement Recipient: Mike Desmond
Thank you to the Rotary Club of La Crosse for honoring me with the Life Time Achievement Award and in particular Mary Ann Gschwind and Marissa Dickinson for nominating me. I am humbled and honored because there are so many Rotarians that have done so much more than me. It was actually when I became a Rotarian 25+ years ago, that I realized we are all called to serve. Rotary changes people’s lives, including us members! I am so grateful for my years with Rotary and everything Rotary has done for me.

Avenues of Service Raffle Basket
Each Rotary Club needs to provide 2-3 baskets of goodies for the Avenues of Service raffle valuing approximately $100-$150. Niki Pohnl is taking donations for the following theme basket by July 15. We also welcome $$ to put towards the purchase items to complete this basket:
Bottoms Up! (looking for beverage related - coffees, teas, wine, beer, or any other beverages, drinking glasses/mugs, beverage cook books, gift certificates)
All funds raised in raffle ticket sales goes directly to Rotary Works Foundation. Last year, we raised over $2000.
Come and enjoy the picnic together and the sounds of the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra to follow.
Bring your family, friends, and picnic dinner to Riverside Park and enjoy fellowship with other Rotary families and friends. We will gather together to eat and joy the concert!
