The COVID-19 level for La Crosse County is measuring at a LOWlevel at this time.
Per current CDC guidelines, when a county is in low COVID risk level, wearing masks indoors is optional.
According to the CDC's guidelines, individuals in communities at this level should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if you have symptoms, but wear a mask indoors in public if you choose. However, additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness. People may choose to mask at any time. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or test positive, we ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for quarantining/isolating.
This Week: Steve O'Malley, Classification Talk
Born in Evanston IL a long time ago in 1956. Steve overcame many life challenges from a low-income family of divorce, multi-generational loss and dysfunction. Steve was influenced by the counterculture and social justice movements of the late 60’s and early ‘70s then took a path to unimagined success in local government at the highest levels of responsibility.
Steve graduated from High School at 16 and has worked full time since age 17. He is a first generation college graduate, holding a BA from UW-Eau Claire and an MPA from UW-Oshkosh.
He began local government service as an elected Eau Claire County Supervisor at the age of 19, serving three terms. After non-profit and private solar business ownership, he served as County Administrator for Marinette County, WI and Rice County, MN; and Deputy City Manager/CFO for Burnsville, MN before coming to La Crosse County.
With more than 37 years of local government management, he retired after 19 years as the La Crosse County Administrator. And has been a proud though unlikely Rotarian.
This is national Big Brother/Big Sister month. BBBS plays a vital role in building healthy communities through youth development.
