Our offsite meeting was at Western Technical College - Lunda Center. Lee Rasch, President WTC, Roger Stanford, Incoming President WTC and Mike Swenson, Executive Director WTC Foundation gave an informative program on WTC from past, present and future ... PowerPoint Vision 2020.
In 2010, Western embarked on an ambitious 10-year plan called Vision 2020 that will allow the college to create student pathways to success while maintaining the flexibility necessary to train future employees for future jobs.
Strategic Goals were created for the six Vision 2020 Areas of Focus and align with Western's measurable Key Results.
We were introduced to our three 2017-18 outbound exchange students.

Our Spring Social/Fundraiser was a huge success. A good time was had by all. Special thanks to: Jamie Capuzzi and her staff from OutbackRestaurant for donating the food and serving us...it was delicious and we did not go away hungry!; The Court Above Main for an awesome venue and great service!; Michelle Skemp, Tim Kolek and Jay Dalberg for sharing their musical talent with us; Andy Bakkum for being MC and singing Lady in Red with the band; Jeanne Meyer our Event Chair who organized the auction and raffle baskets; to all who donated items and those that bid and bought raffle tickets.We made about $3,000 on the live auction and baskets. Final numbers will be tallied next week.

AND the Veterans Lounge Project at the La Crosse Regional Airport..USO wish list for the La Crosse Airport Veteran's Lounge: Volunteer Laptop, lockable storage cabinets, display cases, chest freezer, industrial coffee dispenser, quick shade canopy tent, desk chairs, tablet and charging station for cell phones, tablets and laptops and Xbox games.

ROTARY AVENUES OF SERVICE DINNER....Avenues of Service Dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Lunda Center at WTC. Save the date for an evening of Rotary fellowship. This is a fundraiser for our Rotary Works Foundation. All area club members gather for a night of Fellowship....Awards....Basket Raffle. Lifetime Achievement Award: All Rotarians are invited to nominate individuals for the "Lifetime Achievement Award" - You can nominate any Rotarian from any of the local Rotary Clubs. Lifetime Achievement award is given to a Rotarian who best demonstrates a commitment to Rotary's Four Way Test and the Object of Rotary. Among the criteria considered will be length of time in Rotary (10 year minimum commitment to Rotary and its programs); who demonstrates high ethical standards in his/her business or profession, and who is committed to the ideal of service in his/her personal, business and community life. No Rotarian who has previously received this award may be nominated. Corporate Membership is a program to allow multiple employees of a business Rotary participation under one primary membership. Each corporate membership is limited to a three-year term. After the three-year corporate membership term, the individuals are required to become individual members. View Corporate Membership Policy.
Excused Membership is offered to members if the aggregate of the member’s years of age and years of membership in one or more clubs is 85 years or more, the member has been a member of one or more clubs for at least 20 years, and the member has notified the club's secretary in writing of the member’s desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved. Excused Members will pay the quarterly dues of $70 and only for meals when they attend a meeting.
Family Membership is a program to allow a second individual Rotary participation under one primary membership. View Family Membership Policy.
Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. View Honorary Membership Policy.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI. The Brain Game Board of Directors has exciting news! They are launching an eBook version of The Brain Game at our Rotary International Booth in Atlanta! They are also very close to having Amazon publish, store and distribute the hard hardcover English version and BuildFire to host the mobile app. Kuddos to all involved in creating these exciting changes to The Brain Game.
The Brain Game is a book enhancing children's brain development, written and recommended by early childhood professionals. This resource was developed through the leadership of the Rotary Club of La Crosse and as part of this Rotary project given to parents of newborns at both local hospitals. The books are also available in Spanish.
