THIS WEEK AT ROTARY - Classification Talk by Jerry Arndt

This Thursday, November 16th, Jerry Arndt will be giving his classification talk.  Members always enjoy hearing about their fellow Rotarians.

The Board would like to have Program Chairs schedule one classification talk per month.  If you would like to give your classification talk, please contact one of the upcoming chairs (listed below in the newsletter) to see if they have a Thursday open in their month.

Classification Talk: Some have described the classification talk as a talking business card.  But it is so much more than that!  You can share vital and interesting information about your family, your interest and your business. The talk is not meant to embarrass you, but to let us get to know you as you want us to.  You are not expected to present yourself as a professional speaker.  Most of us are not.  Contact Tami Woods, Program Chair for the year if you would like to give your classification talk.

LAST WEEK AT ROTARY
Thank you to our presenters Dean Dickinson, Mary Mickelson and Kelly Krieg-Sigman for their thoughts on why it is important to support the Rotary Foundation International (Annual Fund and Polio Plus) and  our local Rotary Works Foundation.

Last week at Rotary was our enrollment for your pledge to the Rotary Foundations for 2018 & 2019. Those members in attendance received their letter and personal pledge form with their pledges noted from 2017.  If you were not at the meeting you will be receiving your letter/pledge form in the mail.  We are asking you return your pledge form by Thursday, November 30th.  If you do not return the form we will assume that you will be pledging the same as 2017.

This year you are given the opportunity to make your Rotary Foundation INTERNATIONAL pledge through Rotary Direct.    You can enroll online at www.rotary.org/give.   If you give to both the Annual Fund-Share (funds come back to our District for grants) and Polio Plus you may need to fill out the form twice.  If you decide to give online - please NOTE that on your pledge form so that I don't bill you on your invoice in January.

Another opportunity that was presented is the Rotary Credit Card.

Promote Rotary and help support our Foundation with the Rotary International credit card. Just by using your card, you’ll be helping The Rotary Foundation do good in the world.

A portion of each purchase you make with the card will benefit The Rotary Foundation, at no additional cost to you. The Rotary Foundation has received more than $8.6 million from the program since it launched in 2000, including $3.6 million to support polio eradication.

Earn 1% cash back on every purchase, 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs, and 3% cash back on gas for the first $2,500 in combined grocery/wholesale club/gas purchases each quarter. Bank of America donates $100 to Rotary with every activated account.

Through the generosity of people like you, Rotary's work has made a difference in the lives of millions around the world. Your gift to The Rotary Foundation allows us to improve communities by promoting peace, preventing disease, bolstering economic development, and providing clean water and sanitation.  Charity Navigator rates The Rotary Foundation with a 4 STARS...91% of funds go directly to programs.

Your gift to the Rotary Works Foundation supports local and worldwide projects around the world. Check out the Rotary Works Foundation web site for past recipients. Rotary Works supported our Rotary Habitat Day and Airport Veteran's Lounge projects this year.

UPDATE ON OUR  INDIAN PROJECT
The International Project Committee reported:

The committee has recommended that we be a partner with the Tirunveli Rotary Club of South India to participate in a Global Grant to provide toilets for an neighborhood in Padmadai village Tamilnadu, India..  The Tirunveli Club has asked us to provide $5000. Our Club Board approved the project.

A fundraiser last week raised nearly $4800 of the goal.  If people who could not make the fundraiser still want to support the project, they can send checks made out to Rotary Works, India Toilet project, to Sondra LeGrand 2105 S 30th Lacrosse WI 54601.

The next step will be to get a District match. Tirunveli is doing the same in India and then they will apply to Rotary International for the Global Grant.

Thanks to Roger and Sondra LeGrand for hosting the fundraiser and to ALL who attended and donated....I heard a good time was had by all.
