Our meeting, July 2nd - "Changing of the Guard" will be at Riverfest in Riverside Park. Paul Harris Fellow Presentations will be made...if you are a Paul Harris Fellow ...wear your pins/medallions in honor of those that will be recognized. We will meet in the Community Tent (CT) which is located at the north end of the park. We will have our greeters..Kelly Barton and Sue Durtsche in the Food Court for you to receive you meal vouchers at 11:30. You will be able to identify them by the Blue Rotary Aprons they will be wearing. Your vouchers are good throughout the weekend at Riverfest. If you don't plan on using them all, please return them to our registration table at the end of the meeting. We will be charged only for the vouchers we don't return. President Bill Pritchard spoke on some of the highlights of the 2015 Rotary International Conference in Brazil. He also talked about some of the goals our club had this year. Our goal was to increase membership by 1...we started with 164 and we are at 167. Our Rotary International Foundation Goal was to donate $20,050....we are very close to reaching that goal. Our Polio Plus goal was $9.600....we have donated $25,726 with the help of the Zone Conference that was held here in La Crosse. We helped start three Rotaract Clubs in the area....Central, Logan and Aquinas.....West Salem and Holmen also have active Rotaract Clubs. Rotary International increased membership this year by 47,000 members...this is the first increase in 14 years.

Our club is sponsoring two students for the Short Term Exchange Program (STEP) this summer. They are Brianne Ties and Michael Davy.
Brianne and Michael embody what Rotary looks for in an exchange student: good character, a desire to live abroad and host in return, adaptable, mature and wanting to experience life in another country/culture. Both students will represent their families, their school, their country and Rotary District 6250 and our club very well. They are caring, adventurous and confident young adults who are grateful for their new experiences Rotary has given them. We will learn more on how Rotary can impact young adults when we have both Brianna & Michael return to visit our club this summer with their new "sibling" while their exchange is occurring in WI. Brianna Ties: is the daughter of Lynn & Steve Ties of Trempealeau, WI and is finishing her sophomore year at GET. She will be exchanging with a family from Italy. Brianna and her host sister will share a 8 week exchange... 4 weeks in Trempealeau and beyond and 4 weeks in Italy and beyond.
Last week at Rotary Brianna introduced her host sister to our membership, Bianca from Italy. The Ties family has opened up their home and hearts to Bianca. Brianna and Bianca thanked our club for this opportunity. Brianna is excited to return with Bianca to Italy for four weeks.
Michael Davy: is the son of Laura and Mark Davy of Onalaska, WI and is finishing his freshman year at Onalaska High School. He will be exchanging with a family from France. Michael and his host brother will share a 10 week exchange...5 weeks in France and beyond and 5 weeks in Onalaska and beyond.

If no written objection to the proposal stating reasons is received by the Board of Directors from any member of the club within seven days following publication of the name of the prospective member, the prospective member shall be considered to be elected to membership.

We are looking for nominations for "Rotarian of the Year" from our club....please submit you nominations to rotarylax@charter.net by July 6th....click here to find all nomination forms. The board will review the nominations at the July 13th board meeting and make a selection. They will be recognized at the Avenues of Service Dinner on Tuesday, August 18th.
GREETING CARDS BY ANITA - QUARTERLY REPORT...Anita Froegel sent a check for $310.00 to Rotary Works from the second quarter card sales. This brings the Y-T-D card sales for 2015 to $520.00. It looks like we will have a record year for card sales. Thank you to all who support this fundraiser....special thanks to Anita for her creative talent and time in making each card. This is a good time to reflect on the great Rotary Foundation sponsored programs we support and on how each of us can contribute to make sure these programs continue. Our Rotary Foundation sponsors a broad range of Educational and Humanitarian programs that save and change lives here and abroad: Group Study Exchange - GSE (the Brazil team that was here last week were such a delight!). Ambassadorial Scholars, Polio Eradication, District Matching Grants and Health/Hunger & Humanity (3H) Grants, Youth Exchange, to name a few. These programs are the lifeblood of Rotary, creating world peace and understanding through the lives touched by the programs. Ask any past Vocational team leader or any Rotarian who has visited/worked on an international project about the difference made by these programs...there are many wonderful stories of saved and changed lives around the world. YOUR contributions to The Rotary Foundation fund these Rotary programs. Our local Rotary Works Foundation supports community and world-wide project. They will be supporting our upcoming project in Uganda, our Fellowship Committee's project with New Horizons, scholarships to local High School Graduates, Ethics High School Retreat and other worthwhile projects through out the community.
We encourage you to learn more about The Rotary Foundation and make a contribution to continue saving and changing lives. These programs work and are a great investment for a better and safer world. You will be given the opportunity to donate to The Rotary International Foundation, Rotary Works Foundation and Rotary International Polio Plus. If for some reason you can not make a pledge at this time...that is OK...we just ask that you still fill out the pledge card, sign and return to Lyn by June 30th. AVENUES OF SERVICE BANQUET...Our 26th annual Avenues of Service Banquet will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Four Seasons Community Center, Caledonia, MN. Save the date for an evening of Rotary fellowship. We will gather with area Rotarians to recognize the hard work of individuals and clubs. Each club will recognize one member of their club for Rotarian of the Year....we are now taking nominations for our 2014-15 Rotarian of the Year, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Avenues of Service Awards and the Rising Star Award. Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership is the highest distinction that a club may bestow and should be conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club or hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues. Honorary members will continue to receive The Rotarian Magazine compliments of the club.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI. This will help us process new members into our club more efficiently. You can access the membership proposal form online, under the Club Information site page.
Moon Tunes of La Crosse is a Valley Rotary Project bringing free concerts to Riverside Park most Thursdays in the summer from 6:00 – 8:00 pm....click here for schedule.
