Last Week at Rotary: Rotary Foundation Campaign Enrollment with Janie Morgan and Dean Dickinson
November is Rotary Foundation Month. Biennially the members of our club pledge their support for the Rotary Works Foundation, which funds those projects that improve the quality of life in our community: the Rotary International Foundation, which funds both District and Global Grants, and Rotary's Polio Eradication Fund which has reduced polio throughout the world. Janie Morgan, President of the Rotary Works Foundation, and Dean Dickinson, Chair of the Annual Support Committee, which focuses on Rotary grants, shared some thoughts as a launch to the re-enrollment of our members in their support of these great causes.
Note: If you prefer to keep your mask on during the entire meeting, the Cargill Room can provide you with a boxed lunch to take home with you - but we need to know in advance. Please email rotary@rotarycluboflacrosse.org.

Each club member is required to buy or sell a minimum of five (5) boxes OR you can "buy out" with a $100 contribution to Rotary Club of La Crosse.

Items Drive Benefiting Hope Restores and theExchange
In October, The Rotary Club of La Crosse - Downtown Humanitarian Committee collected donations for Hope Restores & theExchange. Here's the results!
Items collected:
Pillows – 10
Towels – 21
Small box cleaning supplies (6 items)
Items were divided between the two organizations.
Funds collected:
Total $400 ($250 in checks, $150 in cash)
$245 to Hope Restores ($175 in checks, $70 in cash)
$155 to theExchange ($75 in checks, $80 in cash).
Both organizations truly appreciated every item that was donated, and the donation of cash will help purchase other high-need items. At theExchange, $155 buys nearly 50 pillows or 150 cleaning supply items, and that goes a long way. They are grateful!
Hiking Fellowship
On Saturday, November 6th eight intrepid Happy Wanderers circled the larger of the Winona Lakes (the southern one). The sun gods smiled on them and rewarded them with a warm, cloudless, and still day. The 2.7 mile leisure walk took about one hour. Afterwards, the group rewarded themselves with a wonderful lunch at the Boathouse, and to top it all off (pun intended) with an ice cream treat at Nate and Ally's, the new ice cream parlor in downtown Winona. A good time was had by all.
