Area youth will warm the chilly winter air by sharing their gifts of merriment and song during the Rotary Club of La Crosse's annual talent showcase.
Our talented young people included: Brooks Thomas, Benjamin Bakkum, Dylan and Elliott Bostrack, Leo Servais, Miya Servais, Georgia Galvan, Chase Palmer, and the Onalaska High School Jazz Band.
Special thanks to Katie Berkedal and Alex Attardo for organizing our program again this year.
We welcome the Neal Meyer, Diane Monahan, and Katy O'Connor to the club.
Neal is a Web Developer at UWL and joins with his wife, Clara Gelatt. You will often see him volunteering at the Rivoli and other places in the area, is a member of the LCT Board of Directors, and has excellent tech skills.
Diane is the Dean of the College of Business, Leadership, and Ethics at Viterbo. She accepted this position and moved to La Crosse from Florida in September. Diane is an advocate for those who do not have a voice, such as children.
Katy O'Connor is a Spiritual Care Coordinator at the Adult and Teen Challenge here in La Crosse. Katy has a great interest in the La Crosse community and how she can be involved in community activities.
New Member Proposals

Lisa Archer (Leadership position at Mayo Clinic; proposed by Eva Marie Restel. Lisa works to bring a large group of people to work towards the best possible healing conditions - not unlike our group of Rotarians working together towards a better world for all.)
Jeremy Pues (Cappella Weddings and Events, Sales; proposed by Matthew Curtis. Jeremy recently worked at the WI State Juvenile correction Facility helping troubled youth. He has a great passion for serving the community, especially troubled kids.)
According to club procedure, applicant names are to be published in our weekly email bulletin for two weeks. If there are no objections from the current membership, these applications will be approved. Please contact the Club Administrator if you object to these applications by January 3, 2024.

Welcome to Week 3 of RI’s Month of Disease Prevention & Treatment.
Most households all around the world are busy preparing for end of the year celebrations in all forms and styles. The Rotary Foundation too has its own list of things to do before the year runs out, and the following message from the president sums it all up: “December, a month universally associated with giving, aligns with the spirit of Christmas and its tradition of generosity. In several countries, citizens receive favorable tax treatment for charitable gifts, a practice often observed at year-end. In this spirit, I wish to discuss ways each
of us can contribute to aiding Rotarians in serving others and doing good in the world. The good news is, there are numerous avenues to make a meaningful impact.
Giving to the Rotary Foundation:
A straightforward method to contribute is through our beloved Rotary Foundation. Most often, our gifts to the Rotary Foundation are contributions to the Annual Fund or the Polio Fund, supporting TRF's signature program of polio eradication. I urge you to consider two additional ways to give: a) the TRF endowment and b) specific global grants.
Why contribute to the TRF Endowment? It ensures a perpetual source of resources for the Rotary Foundation. Funds placed in an endowment are never spent; only the earnings generated by the endowment are utilized. TRF’s total, including expectancies, is close to 2 billion US dollars. Not widely known is TRF's Economic Development and Empowerment Fund, an endowment specifically focused on economic development projects. Earnings from this fund annually support economic development global grants. If you wish to contribute, please direct your gift

Direct contributions to global grants also make a significant impact. Over the past decade, TRF Global Grants for Economic Development projects have totaled over $105 million US dollars. Your direct investment can shape future Global Grants.
