This week our guest will be our District 6250 Governor, Mary Van Hout. Mary began her Rotary involvement in 2000 with the Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton. She served on the Board for many years and served as President in 2010-2011. It has been her goal to participate in all Avenues of Service annually and most recently through her efforts, she helped her community fund an ADA pier with Club funding and she initiated a Rotary Book Club. She’s been privileged to be the Host Counselor for District 6250’s Ambassadorial Scholars. Mary participated in the Rotary Friendship Exchange to Essex, England in 2011 and Lagos, Nigeria in 2014.
We hope you will be able to come and welcome Mary to our club. I had the opportunity to get to know Mary on the Rotary Friendship Exchange to Essex....she is a delight and I know you will all enjoy having her as our guest next week.

Tennille Spears, Outreach Case Manager from the Salvation Army was our speaker - program the Eviction Diversion Program. The Eviction Diversion Program is a new program at the Salvation Army being funded by a grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation. Tennille works with qualified families to address the many problems that have led to a housing crisis and offers assistance to prevent evictions by providing intensive-in-home Case Management services and in some cases limited financial assistance. The program requires a minimum commitment of 90 days. Qualified families may be self-referred or referred by a treatment professional. Rotary Lights will again print akeepsake booklet. This 20 page 8 1/2 x 11 color brochure will feature a history of the project, maps, schedules, photos, and much more. 30,000 booklets will be produced that will be personally handed out to each vehicle and to groups of walkers that enter the part. Thank you cards are only $1.00, as are the note cards, which are blank inside. The regular cards are $2.00 and $3.00 each. Some cards are three for $5.00 and some three for $10. Anita donates all sales to the Rotary Works Foundation!
Third Quarter sales was $120.00, with Y-T-D card sales at $640.00. Thanks to Anita for donating her time and talent....and for everyone that purchased her unique cards.
OUR ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT IN ISTANBUL, TURKEY
I’m Cameron Neader, an 18 year old who’s lucky enough to have a “once in a life experience” two times. I went on exchange to Fyn, Denmark in 2013-2014 through Rotary and now on a second Rotary Youth exchange to Istanbul, Turkey for 2015-2016. My first day in Turkey was September 1st.
iFeed is a one-day event where over 50,000 dried meals are packed and boxed, ready for shipment to a country where children are hungry. It's also a one-day all-Coulee Region food drive to fill area food pantries. iFeed is a joint service project of the five area Interact Clubs and the La Crosse Area Rotary Clubs as an extension of Rotary Lights Food collections. Thank you for your donations of food and money for the iFeed event. We collected $1,806.00 and a back seat full of food! Winners of the gift cards were Joyce Wichelt and Kathy Van Kirk Przywojski.

Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. Honorary membership is the highest distinction that a club may bestow and should be conferred only in exceptional cases. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club or hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues. Honorary members will continue to receive The Rotarian Magazine compliments of the club.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI.
