If no written objection to the proposal stating reasons is received by the Board of Directors from any member of the club within seven days following publication of the name of the prospective member, the prospective member shall be considered to be elected to membership.
Last week we welcomed our District Governor Joe Ruskey and his wife Tina. Joe gave a passionate talk about his story in Rotary.
After a standing ovation, Rotary District Governor Joe Ruskey shared the difference Rotarians make when we work together.
In the past 10 years, he said, we have gained 1.2 million members. Also in the past 10 years, we have lost 1.2 million members. Why? They report their membership wasn’t relevant. “We know this isn’t true,” he says. “That means those who quit in the first three years simply don’t know what we really are.”
“So my goal,” Joe says, “is to tell the clubs, 3,000 members in this district, what an amazing organization of which they are part. I want to shift their understanding of what a Rotarian is.”
Katie Shephardson received the Rotary Global Award. Read on Katie's blog about the Rotary Global Award and how Katie with the help of Rotarian Bruce Swanwick applied and was awarded the Rotary Global Grant. Katie will be pursing a Masters degree at the University of London SOAS which specializes in the geographic regions of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. You can follow Katie's adventure on her blog.
Kwik Trip Scrip cards are available for sale after and before our meetings. Kwik Trip recently made changes to this fundraiser. We will get 5% off the face value of each card...if the card is used IN STORE for purchases we will receive another 10%- total 15% back (some exclusions apply)....if used only for gas we will only get the initial 5%. Please support our fundraiser.
By you supporting our Kwik Trip fundraiser our club can support local projects within our community. Last project we supported was the River Watch for $1,000.

ALL NEW members become a member of this committee for one year. This breakfast is hosted (no cost to the new members). The breakfast and presentation will last no longer than one hour and the meeting will count as a make-up. Rotary Lights: Rotary Lights is an annual gift to the Coulee Region as a cooperative effort among the area's Rotary Clubs, numerous other non-profit groups and volunteer organizations, sponsors, and last but not least - the amazing individuals that make up their Steering Committee and Board. It is time to VOLUNTEER to help out at Rotary Lights. Our club will again be there for opening night..Friday, November 24th..we have two shits...4:30-7:30 and 7:30-10:20. We need a minimum of 25 for the first shift and 20 for the second shift. Click here to volunteer.
Fruit Baskets: Our annual Fruit Basket Fundraiser is only weeks away. We will be taking orders for fruit baskets starting in October......for delivery on Saturday, December 9th and Monday, December 11th. Think Holiday Gift giving ....they make great employee gifts....see if your employer would be interested in supporting our fruit basket sale. We will be making a slight change to the baskets this year....NO grapefruit. We will increase the oranges and get another variety of apples.
We will assemble baskets at the Rotary Light House, 27 Market Street, La Crosse on Saturday, December 9th. We will need a crew for set-up, basket assembly and basket delivery on Saturday. On Monday, December 11th we will need members to deliver baskets.
“Best of all possible worlds” says co-chair David Amborn, “members lend a hand with assembly or delivery and then take their personal baskets home with them. It’s beneficial to all concerned.”

Rotary Attendance policy is to attend or makeup at least 50% of the club meetings during the first six months and the second six months. They can be done by: • Attending regular club meetings • Making up meetings at other Rotary Clubs ( which includes E-Clubs) • Engaging in club projects/events/fellowship/board meetings.

Corporate Membership is a program to allow multiple employees of a business Rotary participation under one primary membership. Each corporate membership is limited to a three-year term. After the three-year corporate membership term, the individuals are required to become individual members. View Corporate Membership Policy.
Family Membership is a program to allow a second individual Rotary participation under one primary membership. View Family Membership Policy.
Honorary Membership is offered to members who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals. View Honorary Membership Policy.
Excused Membership is offered to members if the aggregate of the member’s years of age and years of membership in one or more clubs is 85 years or more, the member has been a member of one or more clubs for at least 20 years, and the member has notified the club's secretary in writing of the member’s desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved. Excused Members will pay the quarterly dues of $70 and only for meals when they attend a meeting.
Membership Proposals....we will no longer ask for three references when you propose a new member. This was a criteria that our club had set not RI. A resilient economy can withstand disruptive shocks to our environment and infrastructure such as those associated with globalization, flooding and climate change that can cause negative shifts in our economy. To help meet these and other potential challenges, this half-day symposium will provide you with the opportunity to hear from three presenters who will address ways to achieve and maintain economic resiliency. These presentations will be followed by guided table discussions and a Q&A panel. Afterwards, you will enjoy lunch followed by your chance for input on your ideas through interactive polling and word mapping activities.
This event builds upon last year’s symposium on regional resiliency but it will also dig deeper into the economic component and how economic resilience can address both environmental stewardship and social equity.

Dennis Winters, Department of Workforce Development: Dennis will explore regional interconnectedness as it relates to economic resilience by focusing on the overarching ramifications of Foxconn in Wisconsin.
Andrew Dane, SEH, Inc.: Andrew will use case studies from projects in Wisconsin, including the 7 Rivers Region, to demonstrate how community members can work together to build economic resilience on neighborhood and community scales.
Joel Rogers, COWS: Taking the High Road in the Driftless Region: Joel will emphasize the difference between “high” and “low” road approaches to economic policy at the state level, including the recent Foxconn legislation, and what this means for economic resilience in the 7 Rivers Region.
