The COVID-19 level for La Crosse County is measuring at a LOWlevel at this time.
Per current CDC guidelines, when a county is in low COVID risk level, wearing masks indoors is optional.
According to the CDC's guidelines, individuals in communities at this level should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if you have symptoms, but wear a mask indoors in public if you choose. However, additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness. People may choose to mask at any time. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or test positive, we ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for quarantining/isolating.
This Week at Rotary: Mayor Mitch Reynolds with an update on homelessness in our area
Mitch Reynolds was elected in 2021 to serve as mayor of La Crosse. This is the first public office Mitch has held. He has previously worked as an operations manager at a sustainable design and manufacturing firm and as a news director at the La Crosse studios of a multi-state Midwest media company.
Mitch and his wife, Anna, have lived in La Crosse since they both began attending college at UW-La Crosse in 1994. Their children also call La Crosse home.
Mitch has a degree in History from UW-La Crosse and earned an MBA at Viterbo University.
Last Week: Mathilde, Inbound Exchange Student from France
Mathilde designed a lovely presentation to give us insight on her family, home, friends, and school. It was interesting to learn the differences between where she lives in France and her experiences in La Crosse so far.
Mathilde is sweet, funny, and smart. We are still looking for her third host home for April-July 2023. Reach out to Jim Salmo if you are interested or know of someone who might be.
The meal will be TBA. Coffee, tea, and milk available at all meals.

iFeed Volunteers Needed! Teams are HALF FULL....Only 2 spots left on each team!
Our club is sponsoring two iFeed meal packing teams of 12 on November 5th, one at 8:30am and one at 10:00am. We would love for you to be part of this!

The Packer Raffle is up and running! The Riverfest Commodores organize this yearly raffle and our club's budget benefits greatly by the number of tickets we collectively sell.
Tickets sell for $10 each. Each ticket has a bar code on the back good for one FREE Lava Wash at Ship Shape Car wash (a $20 value good through 01-31-23.)

Our club receives $5 (half the ticket sale price) for every ticket sold. Our goals is to sell 500 tickets.

Condolences and Surgeries
Roz Schnick had Hiatal Hernia Surgery last week. She has reported that she is recovering from surgery, but is a little fuzzy. The surgeon found that her up-side down stomach and part of her bowel were above her diaphragm, leaning against her left lung and was partly behind her heart. She says, "No wonder I had such a hard time breathing." Roz is being well taken care at home and welcoming visitors! Reach out to Roz in advance at 608.769.3365 if you plan on visiting.
Bob Daley is now at Mayo in Sparta in room 333 and will be there till Nov 11 ( at least). Continue to keep Bob in your thoughts and prayers.
District Polio Plus Challenge
World Polio Day is October 24th. Some clubs have a tradition to raise funds for Polio Plus in October. District Governor Ben Bauer is also issuing a challenge to our District to raise $130,000 for Polio Plus by March 30, 2023. That is an increase of $11,000 over last year's success. Better yet, when we reach the goal, DG Ben will dye his hair purple in honor of our contributions! Keep reading to for more info and some tools to help us get there!
Rotary Friendship Exchange to India
While there are a few in the works, there is a Rotary Friendship Exchange scheduled for February 4-14, 2023. The group will travel to Mumbai (Bomba), then inland to their district 3170 to visit Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. Contact Dave Clemens as soon as possible if you are interested in being part of the group of 12 to travel there.
The need to help our local food pantries has never been greater. The mission of Rotary Lights is to "feed the hungry". They are selling these bears to help offset some construction costs of larger food pantry, serving thousands of needy families in our area. Bears can be purchase for cash, VENMO, or club account at weekly meetings. Help support WAFER if you can!
