This Week: Rotary International Convention Highlights
The Rotary International Convention is where you’ll find people of action from around the world brainstorming solutions to some of the most pressing challenges and celebrating our works of service that create lasting change. This year's convention was held in Singapore. Mark and Sharon Jolivette and Todd and Eva Marie Restel attended from our club. They will present highlight from the convention and enlighten us on what we can expect to see through Rotary in the future.
Last Week: Soren Minor, Outbound Rotary Youth Exchange Program
Soren Minor just completed a year abroad in Belgium with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. He's an avid musician and outdoors enthusiast, and can usually be found hiking or biking around the Driftless Region. When he's not on his bicycle, he enjoys spending time around friends or enjoying a strong cup of coffee. Next year, he plans to major in Environmental Science at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
Lunch this week: Summer Salad: Romaine lettuce, summer sweet corn, black beans, roasted tomatoes and lime poblano dressing and a grilled chicken breast
Coffee, ice tea, and water available.

Avenues of Service Event - Wednesday, August 21st
Today is the last day to register. Consider coming out to support our own club's award recipients:
Feel free to wear anything loud and fun on August 22nd: Hawaiian shirts and blouses, floral anything, muumuus that have been hanging in your closets, loud ties, etc. Let's celebrate the approaching end of summer with our day of joyful style.
And yes, we are meeting on Aug. 22nd, even though the Avenues of Service event is the same week.
Rotary Friendship Exchange Host Homes
We are asking you to consider hosting guest from either the Philippines in September or Croatia in October. Host provide a place for guest to sleep and a light breakfast. As a host, you are welcome to participate in the daily activities planned for our guest, but are not obligated to do so. Please contact Mark Jolivette to host in September or Chuck Hanson to host in October.
We are SOOOO close! If you have not donated towards this project. Our goal is $15,000 to receive a matching grant from the District.
Al’s Musky Challenge is a Rotary Beneficiaries Club of La Crosse Project that provides opportunity and support
to youth throughout the Coulee Region!
From July 25 through September 30, Rotarian Al Louis will be fishing Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota. This Summer, Al will fish with his fishing partners, both named A.J., as well as multiple sponsor guests and fellow Rotarians.
2024 recipients are the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse and the Family and Children's Center.
Al’s Musky Challenge continues to be dedicated in memory of founding member David Amborn.

Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY)
Rotary Club contributions are matched with funds from the District Funds and The Rotary Foundation's Global Grants program. Since 2001, District 6000 has been involved in 142 of these grants, totaling over $1.9 million. The grants support scholarships, community projects, and the World Peace Fellows program.
Rotary Youth Exchange
High school students from District 6000 spend a year of high school in another country, helping to foster international understanding and world peace.
PolioPlus
District 6000 has contributed more than $600 million to polio eradication activities in 122 countries. Rotarians also partner with organizations like UNICEF, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Interact
Rotary District 6000 helps clubs form new Interact clubs for middle and high school
students, and provides resources for existing clubs.
