"Breaking Free of Body Shame is all about inspiring people to see their worth beyond what they see in the mirror. As someone who has struggled with eating disorders and body image issues for years, Zoe is hoping to share her own story as a way to make people feel that they are NOT alone, and know that breaking free of body shame is possible."
Zoe de Boer is the current Miss La Crosse-Oktoberfest as part of the Miss America Organization and Oktoberfest La Crosse. She graduated with a degree in Religious Studies and Theology from Viterbo University in 2021, and is now pursuing her Master's in Servant Leadership. A Message From Brian Langenhorst:
The message to my Rotary Family was not quite received by some members as I
intended it to be…I want to emphasize to everyone that my health is good, I am feeling great…so great, that my wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are traveling to Africa for three weeks in July. But after 25 years of service with the Downtown Rotary and participating in multiple service projects which were very fun and rewarding, I have decided to create a change in my focus and priorities. I again want to thank everyone for your friendship over the years!
River Clean Up Volunteers Needed: Saturday, June 3rd
Our Rotary has volunteer to work as a specific group to help clean up in the La Crosse marsh. This will include an area from the Mississippi to potentially West Salem. How much ground we can cover will depend on the number of people that can volunteer. But it will include trails and road sides and could include the banks of the La Crosse River. If you can participate in this clean up please reach out to Bud Hammes or register at below.
Our club is participating in two friendship exchanges coming up. Hosting is a great way to learn about another culture and extend our American hospitality to other Rotarians.
