The COVID-19 level for La Crosse County is measuring at a HIGH level at this time.
Per current CDC guidelines, when a county is in high COVID risk level all persons should wear a mask while indoors in public to reduce risk of spreading COVID. We encourage our members to wear masks for the safety of others.
According to the CDC's guidelines, individuals in communities at this level should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if you have symptoms, but wear a mask indoors in public if you choose. However, additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness. People may choose to mask at any time. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or test positive, we ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for quarantining/isolating.
This Week at Rotary: Paul Mueller, Mayo Clinic New Hospital
On April 12 Mayo Clinic Health System broke ground on a $198 million inpatient hospital facility in La Crosse. During this program, you will see animated videos of the new building taking shape and get a “look” inside.
Join us to learn how this facility will incorporate advances in medical practice to support the Mayo staff in providing 5-Star patient care in our region.
Milk and iced tea will be available for you to pick up at the north bar as you find your seat. Cargill Room staff will also be happy to deliver a glass of milk or iced tea to you while they're serving the meal.
Note: If you prefer to keep your mask on during the entire meeting, you will be provided a boxed lunch to take home with you.
My name is Mark Jolivette, and for our next club year, I will be our club's Program Chair. I am asking your help in making sure we continue to have informative and entertaining programs.
Have you heard a great speaker at a conference? Or at a business meeting? Or do you know someone from your workplace, your place of worship, your hobby group who has a story, idea or inspiration to share? We know there are many great presenters in our Coulee region, and we can also continue to get speakers nationally through the Zoom platform. Please help by sending me your suggestions of persons or topics you would enjoy hearing.
Of course, this includes our ever popular classification talks. Whether you are a long-time member or a new member, we would love to learn more about your life, your family, your work and what motivates you and gives you joy.
Secondly, we need duty roster coordinators for each month to help fill in the volunteer list for each meeting.
Contact Mark Jolivette here! He would love to hear your suggestions plus your willingness to speak and to serve.

Polio Plus – Children are Counting on Rotarians to Finish the Job
During the past month, we have learned about two new cases of wild polio in Pakistan. Both cases come from the same area of the country. The good news is that we know about it, treatment can be provided, and the urgency for vaccinations is reinforced with local and national leaders. We also continue to encounter vaccine derived polio in Africa.
While this news is disappointing, it also reminds Rotarians that we cannot let our guard down. If Rotary were to stop vaccinations today, it is estimated that at least 200,000 children across the globe would be paralyzed by polio within 10 years. That would mean that polio could make its way back to our own communities.
Children are counting Rotarians to see this through. If you haven't given to Polio Plus this year, now would be a good time to do so. To learn more and/or donate, visit https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/ending-polio. And don't forget, every dollar you give is matched 2:1 by the Gates Foundation. That's high impact giving!
