When Rotary was established by Paul Harris and three others, each person came from a different walk of life. This diversity is a cornerstone of Rotary. The intent is to have a cross-section of business and professional experiences in your community.
For decades Rotary International listed a range of professional “classifications” and restricted how many representatives of each could be in a club. This ensures that each club reflects the community in which it serves. It also reminds us to not have one profession as a dominant voice in our club. Over time, these restrictions have pretty much given way, but your classification continues to be of great interest to your fellow club members. That’s why your Rotary badge carries your name and your classification.
Classification talks help us learn about the life experiences and professional backgrounds of new members.
Guests are ALWAYS welcome! RSVP in advance to Niki Pohnl if know you are bringing guests but last minute invites are also welcome!

FOUNDATION MINUTE: April 28, 2025
Welcome to the Last Week of RI’s Month of Maternal & Child Health.
On April 23, 2025, Rotarians in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, sold 113 items to bring in
$19,191; they raised a sum of $9,503 at the Diner and Sweet Shop and the Hour and Goat Club generated a commendable $24,759. On that night, the Hopkinsville
Rotary Club Auction raised $53,453 to push the four-night total to $304,283. The
Rotary STEM Impact Scholarship Program is here to support future engineers and
innovators at Christian County High School! Thanks to a powerful partnership between Tennessee Valley Authority,
Hopkinsville Electric System & EnergyNet, Pennyrile Electric, and the Hopkinsville Rotary Club. The program will provide $6,000 in annual scholarships and $1,500 yearly for work-based learning like seminars, equipment, and a field trip to a TVA power facility. Funded by a $100,000 Rotary Foundation grant and $45,000 commitment over the next 5 years from utility partners, this $145,000 endowment will support students indefinitely — and aims to grow with future STEM partners.
The Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation awarded its seventh grant to the Wonderfully Made Workshop, an all-inclusive service program designed to bring individuals with exceptional abilities the opportunity for meaningful work, fellowship and an outlet for artistic and creative expression. The Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation awarded its eighth grant to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hopkinsville-Christian County for their Academic Incentive Program! This program encourages and rewards academic
achievement by providing tangible incentives for members who excel in their studies
throughout the school year. It’s designed to motivate kids to work hard, stay focused and take pride in their education, while fostering a positive environment that values both hard work and success.
